Why Copywriting is more powerful than Fancy Website Design?

First of all, I want to tell your that english is not my first language. So it’s normal if you find some mistakes here and there.

But the most important thing is that I hope that you can learn something from me.

What is Copywriting?

Copywriting is a written content. It could be on magazine, newspaper or website.

Then, why Copywriting matters?

Pictures say more than a 1000 words BUT words have the power to persuade and make people do the things you want them to do… words matter!

If you write it correctly, you’ll have the power to convince someone to do everything you want (not exactly everything).

People looking for someone to solve their problem and they could tell whether you understand their problem and you are the person to solve it or not. 

You can’t do this just by using your fancy website design. People are looking for information to solve their solution. So give them the solution, not the design. Unless they are website designer and looking for references.

So, if you can combine good copywriting and good website design, that’s gonna beuber-awesome!

Good copywriting drives them to take an action.

e.g. purchase the product, leave their contact, send you a message.

Here is some tips that I always use to make a persuasive copywriting on my website.

  1. Know their problem. Get your visitor nodding and make them feel that you understand their problem deeply.
  2. Give the solution. If possible, make it step by step so it’s easy to follow.
  3. “Why should I choose you?”. Yep this is important. Show them who you are.
  4. Social Proof. You can put text or video testimonial. Don’t forget to put their photo so people will trust you more.
  5. Limit their time. You can put limited time offer for your product or service. It makes them no choice but have to make a fast decision. Usually this is good for your website conversion. Fyi Conversion is how many people buy your product / total people came to your website.
  6. Guarantee. Remove any risk so people feel safe purchasing your product. – of course this is not ideal for all industries, but can work fantastic in many business
  7. Call to Action. This is really important that many people choose to ignore it.

What is Call to Action?

“Buy Now”, “Book Your Seat Now”, “Get My Free Ebook Now”, “Yes, Show Me The Video Now”…

Why this is important?

Ok, Imagine that you want to find a solution how to lose weight. You open one website but you don’t know what to do because there’s no further instruction on the page.

If there is no Call to Action, you must be wondering “What should I do now?”

So, don’t let visitor confused and wondering what they should do when they open your website. Put Call to Action everywhere.
